Introduction to QRI-5


What is QRI-5?
QRI-5 is a informal reading inventory designed for students from pre-k through 12th grade used to evaluate students reading level. Each student is individually assessed in reading and comprehension. It contains numerous passages and graded word list that can be used in various ways to evaluate students in different situations.
What is the purpose of using QRI-5?
The purpose of using QRI-5  is to identify students reading level. Additionally, it helps teachers see in which area their students are struggling, and to provide necessary instruction based on the assessment that was done.
Have you seen similar activities like QRI-5?
Yes, I am familiar with running records and miscue analysis.
What is your impression of QRI-5?
I think that it is an excellent tool that can be really helpful for all ages and teachers. I like the idea that a teacher can see where her students are up to in various areas and different reading issues that a child can have. I would love to implement QRI-5 in my classroom.

Week 13- ELL Reflection

 After reading through all the videos and information that was provided this week I realized that ELL’s have a very big challenge in learning, and I was able to better understand from where my student was coming from. It was a tremendous learning experience for me to work with Rivky.
